Special Luncheon with His Holiness
San Diego State University, UC San Diego and the University of San Diego are honored to host His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama's first visit to America's finest city. Working under the leadership of Lama Tenzin Dhonden, the Personal Peace Emissary to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Dalai Lama San Diego Planning Committee has planned a two-day symposium that will provide a thought-provoking forum to inspire new discoveries and expand our understanding of humanity. His Holiness will share his views on upholding ethics, practicing forgiveness and tolerance, and coping with the challenges found in today's society.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a man of peace. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. He has consistently advocated policies of non-violence, even in the face of extreme aggression. He also became the first Nobel Laureate to be recognized for his concern for global environmental problems.
His Holiness has travelled to more than 62 countries spanning 6 continents. He has met with presidents, prime ministers and crowned rulers of major nations. He has held dialogues with the heads of different religions and many well-known scientists.
Since 1959, His Holiness has received over 84 awards, honorary doctorates, prizes, etc., in recognition of his message of peace, non-violence, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion. His Holiness has also authored more than 72 books.
His Holiness the 14th Dala Lama's visit to San Diego provides an exciting, unique opportunity to hear the teachings of a man who understands the importance of a world full of compassion without any borders.
The three host universities welcome His Holiness to San Diego and invite you to be a part of this historical occasion.
His
Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama does not charge a speaking engagement fee and no
aspect of His Holiness' visit is being used to profit financially. Any funds
raised through sponsorships and tickets sales will be used only to cover
expenses for the events benefiting humanity. Should there be any surplus fund
from His Holiness' events, that surplus will be disbursed to charitable
organizations under the advisement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
